Work Harder

I just finished watching a documentary on the abortion issue. It was very fair because it gave all sides a chance to express their views. Still I was left feeling slighted. I thought about the Pro-Choicers having to explain themselves at various angles, but not Pro-Lifers.

Why do women get abortions? It is an arduous and heartbreaking ordeal for anyone. Often it is for financial reasons, can’t handle another baby or she’s a teen with no assets. Let’s talk about her for a moment. More than likely, her mother is the sole supporter. Mom works at least two job. That scenario equals little to no supervision.

Teen love birds now have access to a sex pad because mom is working. Girl is willing to have sex because she feels abandoned by dad and mom is never around.
Now Pro-Lifers want to call this girl a whore because she can’t have a baby grow in her body and give it away after 9 months.

Did these Pro-Lifers shame this girl’s father? After all he refused to be a man and raise this young mother? Did these Pro-Lifers lobby Congress to raise the minimum wage so that mothers can have just one job so they can raise their kids? Do Pro-Lifers lobby for people that want to adopt, but can’t?

If Pro-Lifers want to save lives they need to save the mother’s life before she gets pregnant. EDUCATION!! This is the key! Kids must be taught before puberty. Adults need to report sexualized activity with young kids. Men have to teach boys how to be good men.
It is a biological fact that puberty happens. We all went through it. It’s ridiculous to ignore or shame kids for going through it. They need help and adults have a job to do.

I hear them say America needs to make American goods. Cost more money than good old China. So what? You want your jobs? You’re going to have to pay!

I hear them say poor people of color are thugs, thieves and rapist. Why is that? Is it because bigots with axes to grind are blindly hired. Vet and train your cops a hell of a lot better or else we all have to pay.

I heard them say abortions are evil and they need to shut those clinics down. Then guarantee a nation of fathers that teach their boys how to be good men. And girls get the attention they need from their fathers instead of paying for love with sex. Promise no more incest, molestation, degradation and bodily humiliation! Because it does exist! Will you mandate that law or is the price too much to pay?

I heard them say the poor are lazy parents at best! Is it because our single mothers work 2 and 3 jobs? Give them family leave and a damn living wage! Hey boss man, you’re going to have to pay!

I heard them say, keep those Muslims out. Well this Christian loves all good people. Especially the different ones from herself. What will it cost to keep and take them in. I will happily pay!

For quite some time now, I’ve been hearing about alleged Christians and their intolerance to the LGBT community. Almost always the Bible is quoted as a means to justify there stance.

I propose that their prejudices stem from something more basic. When I look back at my childhood there was something all kids(or at least most) had in common.

You heard something coming from the bedroom. You opened the door. And absolute horror filled your eyes and brain. They were having sex! Gross! Yuck!

Oral, vaginal, handcuffs, from behind, missionary and of course you saw them naked. When they came out of the bedroom smelling like sex you were silent and eying the floor.

You didn’t want to talk about it. You never opened that door again. If your parents even hinted that they had sex a small or large amount of abhorrence rushed to your heart.

But with age you get over it. Maturity, compassion and love makes you want your parents to be happy in all aspects of their lives. So displays of affection turn into a good thing.

I propose that right-wingers can’t stand the thought of gay sex acts (much like normal kids did of heterosexual sex). If you don’t like it don’t think about it!

They point at the Bible and say, God hates them too. I’m not prejudice. I just want it abolished from society for God’s sake. I’m doing His work!

Hey, bigot! You need to grow up. You are a homophobic, mean-spirited, immature and socially oppressive person. By the way, don’t have sex in the house. Your kids think it’s nasty.

It Repeats Itself

DISCLOSURE: I have Jewish, Muslim, Christian and atheist friends. All of them value life.

Anyone who follows my blog knows I’m fond of making lists. It alleviates stress for me and makes me proud of my levity and humor. That said, there are lists that are not easy or funny and will cause much stress.

I’m referring to a time and place when paperwork, typewriters and forgeries equaled life. Many Jewish and non-Jewish children were saved by good people who were not Jewish. World War II …. big deal, right?

I know everyone knows about the Holocaust, Schindler’s List etc. And yes, many acts of heroism, heartache and cruelty. Should we just let such history go? It’s been 75 years since Hitler reared his psychotically evil head.

Shall we forget it, then? HELL NO! Why not? The evil spirit of the Holocaust is here, today. Today’s Nazis go to Synagogue, fast for Ramadan and shut their Christian eyes and ears to the world’s suffering children.

An Israeli Parliament member stated that all Palestinians are terrorists and their mothers should be killed. All I could think of was her ancestors. Does she not know who she is? http://english.astroawani.com/news/show/israeli-mp-says-mothers-of-all-palestinians-should-be-killed-40024

Perhaps she thinks that her race is superior? Where have I heard that before? All of us are here for a reason. Whether you believe in God or not we can all agree that there is no superior race. We are capable of wondrous reasoning and self-serving bullshit.

My topic for today is being a woman. I’ve been one my whole life (ha ha) and have much to say about this matter. Bear in mind that I can only speak on this matter from my first hand experiences.

I truly believe that every woman has the little mean girl lurking inside her. She may not come out that often, but she’s there. Women have ended lasting friendships based on jealousy alone.

If two girlfriends go out and only one gets all the male attention and the other gets dismissed, the rejected one will end the friendship by ignoring her friend or fabricating a story to use as an excuse.

Another phenomenon is when women in power allow or participate in injustices against other women. And these women aren’t necessarily malicious. So why do they stand-by without acting? Fear? Self preservation? Or maybe they try to justify wrong behavior at any cost.

On YouTube I saw a clip of a female judge (master) watching an innocent woman being arrested. The mother had just been sexually assaulted by the marshall.  http://youtu.be/U-QUelpLsRo

On the flip side, women are capable of amazing things and extraordinary compassion. Lovingly raising a child conceived in rape and not for religious reasons. Relinquishing or risking your own life to save the life of another is not an issue for many women.

A few years ago I worked as a hospice volunteer. Sadly, I didn’t have the mental fortitude to stay. There were women that did hair and nails for the patients. Others (myself included) delivered fresh flowers. I had one patient that loved orange soda. I, of course, bought her plenty.

We can all be petty and understanding, stingy and generous, bitchy and thoughtful. And by we, I mean men and women. You just have to focus on the best part of you. The part that you’ve always been proud of.

I just finished watching a documentary For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) about how conservative Christians use the Bible to justify their oppression and hatred against the LGBT community.

I enjoyed the debate and evolution of families from a social and religious standpoint, but I got to thinking outside this hotbed (no pun intended) of drama.

I need a world with weird, kooky, complicated, askew, flamboyant and blazingly different. I could never live in a gated community where all the houses look alike. It would drive me nuts!

There is nothing I love more than variety. I look back to the times when America looked like it was under the Stepford Wives spell. In the 50s everything was lovely, pleasing and sterile as hell.

I need the gays, lesbians, question marks, weirdoes, kooks, nerds, troubadours, readers, blacks, whites, foreigners with thick accents and manic hug-hoarding riot starters.

Life would be awful if no one tried to jam the square peg into the round hole. Go ahead and paint outside the lines. As a matter of fact, get a demolition crew and blow up the lines!

Still, there are people who want meatloaf on Tuesdays and their clothes starched, pressed and hanging thoughtfully in the closet. Cool. As long as you’re happy. Just don’t shove your nirvana into my happiness.

There are things in I wish could happen at least once in my life. Am I wrong for wanting this?

I want ALL WOMEN to stop calling themselves females. The word female is an adjective not a noun! It describes. Example: Female doctor, female officer, female cat. Got it?

I want every Jehovah Witness to have their doorbell incessantly rung by conversion-seeking Muslims, Sikhs, Jews and Catholics (preferably Irish Catholics … they don’t play).

I want IRS agents to get obscenely audited. I mean go all the way back to their McDonald’s gig!

I want every mayor in America to ride the bus for two weeks, one in the summer and one in the dead of winter.

I want every slumlord in America to be sentenced to 30 days in a Tijuana or Cuidad Juarez barrio. I know it’s in Mexico but this is my wish list.

I want the head of TSA, Homeland Security and U.S. Customs to stand in line at the airport or cross the border with all the appropriate documentation.

I want a better mental healthcare system that prevents homeless vets and mass shootings. Most prisons are ridiculously housing the mentally ill and then spitting them into the street with a few pills!

I want every member of the NRA and their political whores to assist in performing the autopsies of every innocent child killed by gun violence.

I want every single sex offender to be sentenced to following: publicly (high traffic area) made to wear a sandwich board listing his crimes for 24 hours. The rest of his sentence can be served in general population.

Lastly, I want to find a way to forgive the selfish, arrogant, bigoted and heartless people in the world. I know that can included myself in that list. Please forgive me, God.

I don’t feel like talking about taxes. So I’ll talk about death. No. I’m not feeling morbid. I’m just raising an issue that few wish to think about.

I get that people want to live for as long as they can. Why not? Life, for the most part, is worth living. But is it worth living at all costs? For me, the answer is no.

I will not harm another human being to survive. Last seat on the lifeboat is going to a kid. Period. And I think most people feel the same way.

The flip side to all this humanity is confusing to me. Why do many believers in God spend obscene amounts of money on home security? By this I mean, security systems, bunkers and military grade weapons?

If you believe in God, you know He decides when it’s your time to go. He is the alpha and the omega. The beginning and the end. The final judge. So why try to hedge your bets?

Don’t get me wrong. If you have a disease that can possibly be cured through treatment, do the treatment until the treatment is pointless and worse than the disease.

Maybe some people are afraid of being judged harshly – i.e. fairly. Perhaps that’s why they fear death. I think many fear the unknown. Most people hate surprises and death can be a doozy.

Let me be clear. I do not advocate suicide or any form of self harm. I advocate life with all its twists and turns. You don’t have to be Julie Andrews spinning on top of a mountain. And you don’t have to be sickly curmudgeon badmouthing the happy people of the world.

Pay attention to the silly, weird, colorful and savory. Do a little of that everyday and you are living. If you worry about going to hell, change for the better. Redeem yourself and be proud of your redemption.

I am a horrible, terrible loathsome blogger. That said, I hope everyone chuckles a bit. Smooches to all from the Crazy L.A. Latina!

I am a proud liberal Democrat and I support everyone’s right to bare arms! Short and no sleeves for everybody! There’s your guns and ammo! If God gave them to you there is no finer weapon!

If your husband threatens to divorce you abandon him with all his ADHD kids on an early Saturday morning. Take his car keys and the all the kids’ meds. Your cell phone will ring incessantly but by the end of the day he’ll agree to anything.

When hot people get naked in public, we call it a public service. When fat, hairy, ugly people get naked in public, we call them sex offenders, nasty perverts committing a felony!  I’m okay with this distinction.
If you want to get back at your douche bag brother mix a sleeping pill and 2 laxative tablets in his drink while he’s cramming for his mid-terms.

The Price

Every now and again I think about life. I think about the price we all pay for living (or not living) the way we want.  I doubt that most people really think about such things.

Young lovers have a baby. They want to keep the baby. Young dad gets a job, gets drunk, fights with baby’s momma …. everything goes to hell. It’s a sad cliché, but there are worse things. Wealth is worse.

When one is wealthy one worries a lot. Security – money, property, gold diggers and who’s going to sue you next! Your mansion becomes a fortress. Therefore making everyone who lives in it a prisoner.

What do prisoners do when they get out of jail? Everything wrong, scandalous and destructive. Then you go through the merry-go-round rehab ride. I know, but it might happen.

What if your wealth is based on a legal but immoral policy? What if your stellar employees have to work a second or third job to make ends meet? It’s the elephant in the board room that everyone’s afraid to talk about. And you join in the silence.

A badly needed raise is explained away in your Christian head. But you know it will not effect your lifestyle in any way, shape or form. Why do you act like this and then criticize how the poor live. Why?

And in the end your slightly unstable relatives will get the lion share of your money. A few charities will be lucky to get some. Perhaps your servants will be blessed with your table scraps. In less than a year after your death no one will utter your name. I could be wrong, but does it happen?

I have always known what financial class I’d like to be in. Middle class to barely rich would suit me fine. No mansions, servants,  exotic cars, high-end shopping or first class travel for me.

I want two cars, one rugged and one adorable. I want a quaint cozy home. I want a housekeeper that works side by side with me. I will be kind, affectionate and respectful to her. And I will absolutely be there for her.

When I travel it will be modestly. Eat and hang out with the locals. This is the way we should be. HUMAN. My religion is Non-judgment Christian with an itch for humanity.  Fortunately I have a loving husband who’s on board with my philosophy.

Wealth isn’t always a bad thing, of course. I guess I just hear things on CNN, MSNBC and all those other letters vying for my attention. Greed is a cancer, virus, plague delivered in a shit bomb. Head for your Eddie Bauer / LL Bean designed bunker!
